Sports are fundamental to the development and confidence of youth. Keeping water polo programming alive and growing in Georgia is a mission-based task that isn’t possible without the help of generous volunteers. If you feel called to serve youth sports in any capacity, read on to see where we could use you!

Available Positions

GWPL Board Member: General Inquiry

The GWPL Board will eagerly accept help in your realm of expertise! Our board members are volunteer positions, with some board members contributing more than others due to bandwidth. Our departments and their corresponding positions are as follows:

  • Administrative (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer)

  • Marketing (Director of Marketing)

  • Development (Director of Development)

  • Risk Management (Director of Compliance)

We are actively looking for help on the following teams:

  1. Marketing: we are looking for assistance with photography, website management, asset development and general promotion of the GWPL to grow our sport.

  2. Development: we are looking for help with program development — a go-getter who isn’t afraid to try something new to grow our niche sport! We are also looking for a Splashball Chair to own the development of 12U programming in Georgia, and a Recruitment Chair to assist clubs in their team growth efforts.

USA Water Polo Referee

The Georgia Water Polo League is an affiliate of USA Water Polo, which trains and hires referees to officiate our season games. USAWP pays referees $35 per game. This job opens up additional employment opportunities outside of the regular GWPL season, such as USAWP tournaments around the country.

Requirements:

  • USAWP Membership and a Passing USAWP Referee Exam

  • Background Check

  • SafeSport Certification

  • Saturday and Sunday availability to referee games around metro Atlanta area

Shaping the growth of our youth via coaching sports is invaluable and extremely rewarding. Coaching water polo especially gives you the opportunity to reach kids in a niche sport, helping them feel seen and encouraged. Each individual GWPL Club hires their own coach depending on the Club needs. Some clubs have boys, girls, and developmental teams, while others offer only one or two.

Requirements:

  • USAWP Membership

  • Background Check

  • SafeSport Certification

  • Saturday and Sunday availability to coach games August-October

  • Weeknight availability to coach practices August-October

Team Coach

High School Photography Intern and Social Media Intern

We are looking for multiple High School Students to intern with the GWPL! If you are interested in pursuing sport photography, social media or marketing as a career, we would love to help you discern your future with an internship opportunity!

Photography Intern Details:

  • We will provide DSLR camera for use on deck

  • You can choose how many hours you would like to work, and we will provide community service hours for your work

  • You will have full creative expression, and can also edit photos if you wish!

Social Media Intern Details:

  • You must have your own smartphone for on-deck photography and editing

  • We are open to your creativity and expertise - you will collaborate with our Marketing team to produce and publish content to promote the GWPL on Social

  • You can choose how many hours you would like to work, and we will provide community service hours for your work
