MEET THE TEAMS OF THE GWPL

Atlanta Public Schools (APS)

APS Knights is made up of multiple teams composed of many students from grades 6-12 in the Atlanta Public Schools district.

We’ve had players go on and play at colleges, participate in Junior Olympics, and participate in the Olympic Development Program. All here in Atlanta! 

The APS Knights, are open to all boys and girls entering 6th-12th grade who live inside I-285 and don't attend Pace or Lovett (they have their own teams).  No water polo experience required, but you must be a strong swimmer (summer league swim team or similar).

Chamblee Water Polo Club

Chamblee Water Polo is made up of athletes in grades 6-12. They train Developmental-level players, as well as competitive Boys and Girls teams.

Chamblee WP hosts a large water polo community based in the Chamblee and Dunwoody school districts in Dekalb county. Although nearly all of their players start with no experience, in 2023, the Intermediate Team won the state title and the Championship team came in 2nd at State, coached by Igor Molina! Chamblee is currently coached by Marshall Peters, Jerrick Neu, and Taylor Simon.

Chamblee WP welcomes players from Chamblee High School, Dunwoody High School, Chamblee Middle School, Peachtree Middle School, and Kittredge Magnet School. They practice mornings and evenings at Chamblee High School and Dynamo Swim Center in Chamblee.  If you are interested in learning more, please contact them at at chambleewaterpolo@gmail.com!

Norcross Water Polo

Norcross Water Polo’s home is Gwinnett County. Norcross boasts three teams, Developmental, Boys and Girls, and practices at West Gwinnett Aquatic Center, including Summer Practices!

Coached by Kyle Smith, Harrison Murphy, Mariana Lombello and Emily Stevenson, Norcross has humble but strong roots. The club was started by a local mom who wanted a water sport option for her swimmer kids. The Blue Devils played their first season in 2010 and won their first state championship in 2013. Over the years the Norcross Boys and Girls have won a total of FIVE state championships (2013, 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2023) as well as being a championship finalist (2017). In 2018, our A Team was undefeated in regular season play (12-0) as well a making a clean sweep in the State Championship to bring a fourth championship cup home to West Gwinnett Aquatic Center.

Vikings Water Polo Club

The Vikings Water Polo team was first formed in 2010 as a club sport at Lakeside High School. Water Polo is an emerging sport, and we offer an All Girls team, co-ed teams, and developmental teams.

Currently, we are accepting students in grades 6-12 to join our team from any school in the Lakeside Community Area. Students from private or public schools are encouraged to join. The Viking Water Polo teams are managed by a volunteer Booster Club.

Lovett Water Polo Club

Lovett is an independent, co-ed school in Atlanta that offers athletes a co-ed water polo opportunity during the swimming off-season!

Coached by Coach Jennifer King, the Lovett Club Water Polo Team has both a Mens and Developmental team registered in the AWPL.

Southern Crescent Ladies

The Southern Crescent Girls team is based in the SW Metro-Atlanta area and boasts a strong roster of both swimmers and water polo athletes.

With a successful team history marked by multiple appearances at the GHSWPA State Championships, Southern Crescent is excited about their 2024 debut in the AWPL.

H20 Polo Sirens Girls team is based in the Forsyth and Northeast Atlanta area.

These athletes played water polo in years past, and joined forces to form this team to participate in the GWPL inaugural year. Over half the team participates in off-season club competition, and travels to play polo with other Atlanta area athletes.
